My Novopen Echo broke! 😱 I was trying to do an airshot before injecting and noticed that no insulin was coming out. At first I thought it might be a faulty cartridge, so I changed it with same result. Then I vaguely remembered a report a while ago that the cartridge holder in some batches of pens was prone to cracking and breaking. Sure enough, that was the problem! I ought to have checked the batch number at the time, but everything seemed fine and it has lasted OK for several months. I have ordered a new cartridge holder from Novo Nordisk. Fortunately, I have an old pen with an intact cartridge holder so I just swapped that in.

Information about batches here, in case - like me - you didn't check last year when you were told to! 😱 :(

I'm also getting my GP to prescribe a new pen so I have an intact spare!

I have literally picked up the cartridges for my two new NovoPen Echos today! I have looked but can’t find any serial numbers at all. Do you think it’s because mine are brand spanking new and they don’t have them anymore? Don’t want to pull too hard in case I break them. 😱

If you click out the end of the pen, and dial it up to the fullest number of units it will go ( don't worry, you can dial it down again without expelling the insulin)
you should now see the serial number on the bit of the pen that is exposed now it's fully twisted out, ( hope that makes sense)

Thanks Robin, knew someone would be along soon to help. Luckily mine are ok. 🙂
