Mounjaro Monday - Week 15 update.

Hello,

A very pleasing update today - I have lost 2.2lbs l, taking me just under 19st!

I’m 18st something, which is crazy when only 5 months ago I was 23st something! It doesn’t feel real.

It’s been a Mounjaro symptom-free week. I don’t think I am getting much in the way of appetite suppression, but I am still coping with my calorie deficit. Part of me wants to ask to move up a dose, and part of me thinks I may as well keep going as long as I can with 5mg. I know my nurse doesn’t want to put people on more than 7.5mg - not sure why, but she did say that to me when I saw her.

Fitness is going very well. I did barbell training for the first time last week. Did you know the bar alone weighs 44lbs?! As we were all beginners, most of us used the bar without any weights on it. It was brutal! Much harder than it looks and boy did I ache a few days after haha. It’s my last class this week, but I’m going to try and keep going on a Wednesday now that I’m in the habit. I still go a couple of times a week to use the EGym.

I’ve been taking advantage of the good weather by going for walks at my beloved woodland park. It is my little slice of heaven. I’m excited as I have put myself forward to volunteer for conservation work at the park - hopefully starting this weekend. Nature is something I am passionate about, so being able to give back something to a place I love so much is fantastic. This time last year, I simply couldn’t have done it because my weight, back and general health was in the pits. I think it is going to challenge me physically, but I’m ready for it.

When I found out about my type 2 diagnosis back in November 24, my lovely mom said that it could be the making of me. I’m starting to think she is right. I didn’t realise that this rotten disease could have any positives, but in a funny way it has. I’m thankful for the motivation diabetes has given me to do things I didn’t think I’d ever be doing. Weight lifting and conservation volunteering.., what a crazy turn life had taken. I wonder what comes next?

Well, that was a much longer update than I had intended, so I will wish you all a great week.

Kate
