Hi everyone, newly here. My partner and I went to South America and he got a lot of bites from mosquito , its been three months now and he still have the same symptoms, itching , redness and the small bites are showing a bit bigger even though the GP has given antibiotics and steroid cream (Xemacort) . I was told he could be Diabetic but the GP has not advice anything else. Please can anyone advice about it. I'm not sure if we can go to the doctor's because of the pandemic so I do understand but I'm getting a bit worry.
Many Thanks.

Welcome to the forum @Elijose27

We are being encouraged to still contact our GPs with ‘normal ‘ stuff so it would be sensible for your partner to talk his symptoms from the bites through with them.

With regard to his possible Diabetes diagnosis, what tests were done prior to this and what were his results. Higher glucose levels can make it more difficult to heal from infections, so it would be useful to know what his glucose levels are, in order to decide whether he needs to modify his diet and exercise levels.

I hope that helps.

Hi .its only natural to worry . I hope your Gp has taken blood samples to test for diabetes , as you do need to know if he does have diabetes.

As for the skin problem phone your Gp practice. They will have made special arrangements for people who need to visit Gp.

Sorry to hear about your partner.

Three months seems like a long time, and it would appear that the antibiotics and steroid cream aren’t resolving the issue.

Steroids do raise BG, which may be an additional factor.

I think you need to contact your GP for a phone / video call appointment to discuss it further.

Thank you for your advice, I think is a good idea to contact the GP again and with a video call that will help a lot.
Warm Regards
Elizabeth.
