Hi, when taking BG readings I see different results ranging from 5.5 to 10. What would be considered the appropriate ranges for good, OK or bad readings. I've seen elsewhere a range of 5.0 to 8.9 is the target to aim for. Would this be right?

Hi @Spudz - the readings depend on when you take them (waking, before food, 2hrs after food, going to bed) - have a look at this page on the Diabetes UK website which will hopefully clarify things

Generally unless you are on insulin you are aiming for between 4-7mmol/L waking and pre-meal and keeping the 2 hours post meal reading below 8.5mmol/L

The range on Constant Glucose Monitors (CGM) is usually set at 4-10 for people managing their diabetes with insulin and the aim is to keep inside that range at least 70% of the time. The wider range is because managing diabetes with insulin can be tricky. You can be careful not to go too low as well as too high and the timing of the insulin is different for different meals plus exercise and illness and many other factors can all influence it, so it isn't possible to get the timing right and the amount right all the time.
