Hi, I wonder if anyone one could help with my queries. I'm on metformin slow release two a day for the past 5 years. Now it is giving me diariah and my GP doesn't want to change the medication as it is good. What do I do? However, if I take one of the multivitamin by centrum then I little bit better in the morning. What des this mean? Am I in lack of some key vitamin?
I would like to thank in advance.

Welcome.
Diarrhea is a common side affect of Metformin. Do you take it with food, and reduce carbhydrates some find helps.

Hi. Welcome. Their is a slow release version of Metformin that some people tolerate better, perhaps your gp could try you on it.

Hi Muthu, welcome to the forum 🙂 Is the diarrhoea a recent problem? Did you GP offer any explanation for it, and make any suggestions for treatment? If you have been taking metformin for 5 years without problems, but this is a recent development then it may not be related. Did you mention the improvement when you took the vitamin pills to your GP?
