In process of helping a family member (type 1 diabetic ) acquirie a puppy / young dog for company, purely by chance I came across a few posts on here. Very interesting but posts from 8 years ago so wondered if anyone may have more recent useful info or has personal experience within this subject.
Mind set on a dog so could be good idea to consider the possibility of future alert training into the mix along with everything else when choosing a suitable pup.

Have you come across hypohounds a charity based in Smarden in Kent but nationwide links as well I think. They are on twitter and facebook and a google search will bring up details too.

Hypohounds only operates in Kent, and you need to be less than 90 minutes drive away because of the training courses. which are intensive and common to all these companies

It’s easier with the Libre 2 glucose monitor, which alerts you if your blood sugar is going too low or high. Don’t have to feed it, give it injections from a vet or house train it.

I’ve also got a watch that will ring emergency services if I have a fall and don’t tell it I’m okay. Unlike the Libre, not available on prescription.

Hi all,
Flower, thanks for links. Will check them out

mikeyB, been using Libre 2 for a while now but has nights when alarm goes 3 or more times. Wary of sleeping through alarm if happens a few nights in a row. Getting pet mainly for company. looking into medical alert training as an interesting and useful add on training experience for dog and owner. Got to get through basic puppy training first, should be fun to watch !! Lol.
