Hi There,

Can anybody tell me if it's okay to carry on taking Metformin as usual even when you have a scheduled Mammogram. I have one on Friday and can't find anything on the site about this.

Donna

Hi Donna

the patient information leaflet indicates that you should speak to a Dr if you are having an x-ray involving a dye or if you are having a general anaesthetic as in these cases you might have to stop the tablets for a few days.

Neither apply for a mammogram - but if you are worried ask you Dr or ring the clinic where you are having the mammogram.

I had a mammogram done last year and didn't have to stop my pills. As has been said though, if you're at all uncertain speak to your GP or nurse about it. Good luck on Friday.

I had not thought of stopping the Metformin - I would phone the number on your letter as they are usually more aware for that particular examination.

good luck.

I can't think of any reason why having an X ray would mean you need to omit any medication, but best check with the clinic is you're worried.
