Hi all

I generally spice up my grilled chicken with some hot sauce while cooking. Been using Lidl's Siratcha sauce but just looked at the sugar / carbs content which I assumed was low but oh my it is not. I have other hot sauces that I add to the odd meal to spice up (spa bol is too boring otherwise). Big fan of West Indian style hot pepper sauces too (Barons hot pepper sauce is 5g per 100 so not too bad)

Anyone got any favourites they care to share?

Thanks

Nando’s piri piri sauce is only 1.1g carbs per 100g.
Harissa is about 9g per 100g
Or what about making your own chilli oil? Just add a load of hot chillis (I use dried ones) to a bottle of oil and leave to infuse.

If you use dry rubs, spices or pastes rather than pre-prepared sauces, however if you look carefully some are not too bad for carbs.
I make a satay sauce which you can make as hot as you like with peanut butter, soy sauce, yoghurt and chilli powder.
Grape Tree have lots of different spice mixes or Spicetice are good ones.
Pataks do a good range of pastes for curry.

Thanks. For some reason I just assumed theirs would be full of sugar!

Dry rubs is a great idea. Just need to be a bit less lazy lol. I like the sound of the satay also

I have Franks Red Hot Original sauce. It’s hot and very low carb. A few drops adds plenty of heat.

.
Great. I think I have some of that unopened somewhere. I tend to accrue hot sauces and work my way through a few at a time depending on taste. Maybe it's just the one I used for making my lunch was super high in carbs.

I love hot sauces too @Lazydave The Franks one is my quick everyday sauce to spice up anything. I use it a lot :D What I like about it, apart from the taste, is that it keeps well.

Have a look at Barons West Indian pepper sauce. It's delicious and has about the same amount of carbs as Franks. They do a few that I may try but it's hard to find the carbs for more obscure sauces in advance, hence me asking here. There's a similar one called Aunt May's but that is carb-tastic unfortunately. Annoyingly when you search for low carb hot sauce everything that comes back is American and not available here

How much of this stuff do you use? If it is high carb but you only use a tiny amount, does it really matter? I am thinking you are talking about something like tabasco hot sauce where just a few drops is enough but perhaps I am misunderstanding.
