Help needed, please! My Libre 2 Reader has broken and Abbott say there are none currently available, but my phone isn’t compatible so I’m sensor-less and panicking a bit as I’d come to rely on it due to a period of crazy sugars. I can’t see the list of compatible phones anywhere on the Abbott website :( I can see mention of a list, but can’t find it! If anyone can link me to a list, I’d be very grateful. TIA

I think the main thing is that your phone needs to have NFC capability to scan a sensor. This is the technology that lets you make contactless payments with your phone. I have a relatively cheap Moto G and it works fine.

Thanks @khskel I did have an initial look at phones but can’t find NFC listed in the tech specs. Bear in mind I’m a phone thickie, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there. How do I search for that feature? Apologies for stupid questions and thank you for replying.

On home screen drag your finger down from top to reveal WiFi sound plus other functions, scroll through them left to right you should see initials NFC,when you do activate it.

There's a list here, https://www.freestyle.abbott/ie/en/librelink/compatibility-guide.html . Scroll down to see the list of each phone model, and what operating system that particular phone model needs to have. Hope this helps!

Had similar problem, my relatively new motorola power 8 didn't have NFC, not had it a year.

I’ve got a libre 2 reader I’ve never used if you want it. I’ll check I can find it if you do but it should be somewhere predictable.

That would be fabulous @Lucyr if you’re sure you don’t want it. Obviously I’d pay your post and packing.
PM me your address and I’ll post it tomorrow. Had it ages and never used it so don’t expect I plan to.

Awwwww! You guyyyyyyssssss (((((( @Lucyr @Inka )))))) 🙂

@Inka Have you tried downloading the Libre app onto your current phone and trying to scan with it or perhaps one of your children's phones if yours is really old.... assuming they have a phone?
The only thing I found with a replacement reader is that you have to replace the sensor as a new reader will not read a sensor which was started with a different reader.... or at least that is what I found with Libre 1 after @eggyg very kindly sent me her old Libre 1 reader..... Isn't this forum full of really wonderful, kind, generous people. :D
Anyway, just a thought that your current phone might work if you haven't tried it and should work on the current sensor, but a new reader may unfortunately not.... but will work once you start a new sensor.

My phone is embarrassingly ancient @rebrascora I’m sure it doesn’t work because I asked the Abbott lady when I did my training. Mine’s the only phone in the house so no option of pinching anyone’s. I get what you’re saying about the sensor. I suspected that might be true but I’m due to change sensors soon so hopefully that won’t be an issue.

I know my phone needs replacing really because it’s old and has hardly any memory, but I was shocked at the price of phones now when I looked at more modern ones. Thanks to @Lucyr ’s very kind offer, I can hold off buying a phone longer, which is perfect as it’s an expensive time of year and I’d rather not have to get one now.

I am the same. My phone is ancient and probably would not have NFC but I prefer the reader because it is small and easy to use and it seems to have a lot less issues than people experience with phones especially after updates. I bought a second hand iphone thinking I could use that but I think it will be well beyond being useful now as phones become obsolete so quickly and I just do not have the money to upgrade.
Hope Lucy's reader doesn't get held up in the mail and you are back online soon.

Just another thought..... Libre are supplying some people with a locked mobile phone unit which has the LibreLink downloaded onto it for those people who don't have a suitable phone since they are phasing out the readers which I think is a really bad move personally. It is just a basic phone and I am certain that at least one person on the forum.... up in Scotland I believe... was supplied with it by Abbott and I think they may also be being used across the pond in place of a reader too, so that might be worth chasing up either with your clinic or with Abbott as I don't think they are manufacturing any more readers and they surely must be committed to supplying a device to scan their product for people who don't have a phone. I think it is also important to have a backup for situations like this, so worth chasing up even after you get Lucy's reader.
