Just got back from New Zealand. I was a bit concerned about taking Lantus, my background insulin, and planned to take it at the same UK time every day. This ment taking Lantus every 24hrs, at 10pm, like I do here in UK. So I set a clock to UK time and every day when the clock said 10pm I took the Lantus. When its 10pm in UK its 11am in New Zealand. All was well for a couple of days then when I awoke my BS readings started to rise 10.7 - 13.8. After 5 days I decided to do the Lantus injectin at 10pm New Zealand time. Within 2 days I was awaking to 5.0 - 5.7 BS readings. Next time we visit my brother I will be taking Lantus at 10pm NZ time as this is much better than keeping UK time. New Zealand has a first class health service. Most New Zealanders also have an insurance scheme to assist with hospital, doctor and prescription fees but emergency treatment is free and very good as my brother has found out. AM.
