For some strange reason, the last couple of night my left leg (mostly) has been feeling irritated last thing at night. Given that there is no rash I would guess it's the nerve endings.

I've got borderline low Vitamin D, which I've been taking extra Vitamin D for the last week and a bit. The leg muscle pain that I was getting is mostly gone, so that's good.

Is this itchiness something to do with my Vit D levels coming back up?

I was also getting restless legs at night as well, but I thought I knocked that on the head by doing leg stretches just before bed.

It's probably RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME, eminently treatable with ROPINEROLE. Don't dismiss It as trivial--it's life destroying: acceleration, lack of sleep and the impression one's going mad without sedentary relaxation. See your GP.

Stick with the leg stretches if you can, Mark. I wouldn’t touch Ropinirole with a barge pole, but then I haunt the Parkinson’s disease forum. Yes, it works in restless leg syndrome, and yes, it reduces tremor in Parkinson’s. But it can have devastating side effects. It can cause compulsive behaviour problems - betting to excess, compulsive shopping, hyper sexuality. There are folk on the Parkinsons forum who have lost their wives or husbands due to this drug. It’s taken years for the drug companies to admit that dopamine agonists can have this effect, and now there is a black box warning on the data sheets. In some reviews, this has happened in almost 10% of users.

I’ll PM you with treatment that does work, with no side effects.

Pre dx, I had a serious problem with the outside of my left foot for quite sometime. Used to itch tremendously. No rash, redness or any visible indications that anything was amiss. Visited my GP in the UK and a clinic in Shanghai, both could find nothing untoward.
Read an article in The Guardian regarding low levesl of Vit D so I started taking a daily supplement. Hey Ho, no more itch.
I put it down to high BG levels at the time and perhaps a low level Vit D. Enough said it is no longer an issue for me.

Have you had your vit B12 checked? vit D and deficiencies are really common, the symptoms of both deficiencies often can be simmilar to peripheral neuropathy, Itching, restless leg, burning feeling, cold feet/hot feet. I was misdiagnosed with PN when i actually had chronic pernicious anemia (b12 deficiency) just a thought. Could be the vit d deficiency on it's own though that also causes itchy legs

My B12 levels were ok, right it the middle of the test range. My Vitamin D was borderline low.

Sorry. I recently suggested Ropinerole for RL Symdrome. I now read that others had the sort of chaotic side-effects I am currently living with on HIGH-DOSE PREDNISOLONE.( Being taken for a different disorder, Giant Cell or Temporal Arteritis.) However I did once become almost suicidal with extreme RLS and still find it very helpful when it recurs.
