Hi I’m new here and I’ve just started to inject insulin and trying to do my best at remembering what to do am I the only idiot that either forgets the test the needle first thing then stabs the belly after and realise she hasn’t put the dosage in then takes the needle out to do the dosage and then thinks hang on did I just inject or did I not as I’ve just done that..... so just wanted to know if it’s just me

Hahaha that sound exactly like me with my heart meds 😳 heaven only knows how I’d cope with insulin!! I’m type 2 on metformin and frequently put my tablets out to take after my dinner then find I’ve forgotten to take them when I clear things away 😱
I’m sure you will find we are not alone :D

We've all done that! (well, I have, at any rate) What insulin are you on? If you're on anything made by Novonordisk ( Levemir, and Novorapid, for example) you can get a Novepen echo pen which records how much you've injected and when, so you can double check. If you're on insulins made by other manufacturers, there is a device you can fit over their pens, which tells you when and how much you injected, I can't remember what it's called, but someone will be along to tell you.

Hi I’m so glad I’m not the only one lol well I was on tablets but they have never worked anyway I’ve been put on Lantus pen very easy to do if you spoke to my friend and family you would know I was dreading g it I started weds was on 20 units but um let’s just say my glucose was rather high phoned up on fri she put me on 20 twice a day and it was working but today I won’t be surprised if it’s like 30 at night don’t worry my bloods have never been low , I’ve been asking the nurse to go on injection for years as the tabs were not working and I had 90%side effects anyway it’s early days dads a type two and said it takes a good few weeks to settle lol hate diabetes

Tabs are easier I have to admit but I suffer from IBS and any tabs upsets stomach but I had other nastier side effects from the others

Flipping stabbed the wrong site ooooo ouch it’s still stings lol but I’ll learn only been what 4 days bloods are going down not much , but anyone know of a cream I can put on say a hour after

I’ve never experienced pain like that from injecting. Have you been shown the right technique? Is it possible that a different sized or even a different make of needle might help you, as I believe some people can be allergic to different coatings that they use.
