I was in my local pharmacy this morning to see if they had managed to get something for me.
Whilst waiting to be served the assistant had a prescription in her hand and was double checking with the Pharmacist, that lady she was serving could buy the products on her prescription cheaper than paying the two charges. She then sold her the 2 items and also gave her the prescription back.

That's good to hear. Many years ago I worked part time on a pharmacy and remember the pharmacist telling s customer that it would be cheaper to buy the products than pay prescription charge. And the customer insisted he wanted the paracetamol (or whatever it was) dispensed from the pharmacy! 😱

Strange.
I worked in one to in the early 70' s , a neighbour of mine insisted paying for her prescription even though she could have got free she was on Thyroid medication.

I wonder if some people think they don't get the real thing if they buy it over the counter!
