I had already been eating 1200 cals a day since Jan and had lost 10lbs but now its not just bout the cals i have to count the carbs too?

Hi welcome to the forum
I should forget about the calories and concentrate on the carbs. All carbohydrates convert to glucose so you need to look at the total carbohydrate amount of the foods you are having. Many foods will be low carb so you can focus meals around those. If you are going to follow a low carb regime then a starting point is no more than 130g per day.
Well done on your weight loss and that is going to help your blood glucose levels and you are on the right track with what you are doing but your may just need to look more carefully at the foods you are having to check they are not too high in carbs.
This link is useful as it explains the principals many follow with success.
Also the learning zone will be worth looking at to give you a better understanding of the condition.
If you want to share what you would have as typical meals then people can make some suggestions.

Hi Jean, there's a book you can buy which shows what the carbs are for foods.
Well done on your weight loss, I know it's hard work, but you're doing really well, Sarah
