A silly question but how would a paramedic or anyone get ICE details off phone as surely it would be locked and mine can only be opened with my thumbprint?

Hi Lucy

If it's an iPhone and you fill in ICE information in Apple Health then it can be accessed on the keypad 'slide to unlock' screen under 'Emergency' labelled 'Medical ID'.

Alternatively you could make up a photo with your medical ID over the top and set that as your Lockscreen.

Thank you.
I hadn't heard of Apple health but will go take a look.

Haven't heard of this ICE. What is it?

Are you assuming that your accident involves the loss of a thumb?
Seriously, though your phone is probably in your bag/pocket and they won't go searching for it.

They do nowadays, as that's where they get next of kin to notify etc. It's one of the first things they look for as the ICE also holds your emergency phone number and contact details. People don't have paper diaries on them anymore, the ones where you filled that information out every year on the back pages

Ive got an Xperia Z5 and I typed in my ICE contacts and you can access them without unlocking the phone. On the lock screen it says emergency in one corner and ICE in the other. Maybe it's the same with an iPhone?

I'm sure someone on here said one time that medics look for a persons phone as it may have info on it, even if there is a relative/friend present telling them things.
I've got my conditions and medication listed on the lock screen. I've also got a bit of paper provided by the hospital, with information about my heart and defibulator, for medics in case something does happen to me. So hopefully they are looking.
