How slimy can mushrooms be...

...before they shouldn't be eaten? I hate throwing stuff away, but some mushrooms I bought have turned a bit slimy - are they OK to use in an omelette? :confused: 🙂
 
If it's the surface that's a bit slimy, then should be fine, you can try giving them a rinse, or peeling them, and if the flesh underneath the the skin is disintegrating, then no I wouldn't eat them.
