I am so frustrated and will ring the helpline on Monday but just in case there is a simple answer!
So I attached the sensor ok, charged the reader and the sensor was found, told I had to wait 60 mins. Just before the hour was up I unplugged it as thought the reader would have some charge in it. Huge mistake as it died and when I plugged it in again it said no active sensor found and when I looked for new sensor it told me Sensor ended and start a new one!
Anyone else had this problem? Also the reader still has no charge in it.
Thanks so much,
Jo

I have had significant issues of my own but never had this one. In fairness to Abbott they have always been very responsive when I have rang them with 'duff' sensors. Make sure that you keep hold of the sensor as they will ask for it back. Good luck with the system 😉

Thanks, maybe I should take this sensor of and try the other one. Does your reader work without being plugged in?

Yes once it's charged mine lasts for about 9 or maybe 10 days before giving a low battery warning and a prompt to charge it up again

If your reader won't work without being plugged into a power source them it might be a good idea not to open the other sensor as it sounds like you may possibly need a new reader as well as a replacement sensor

This isn't anything I have experienced, personally.

In your shoes, I would leave the sensor in situ, in case they want to try anything with you when you call them tomorrow. It does sound as if your reader is wonky in this instance.

In terms of battery life, I usually charge the reader before activating a new sensor, but to be honest it never looks like it needs it. As I download the onboard data each morning, during the sensor's life, the reader gets a little top up whilst the reader is connected to my laptop by usb.

I'm sure you'll find Abbott easy to deal with. It would be good if you let us know how this turns out.

Thanks and did decide to do nothing but relax and wait until tomorrow.
I will let you know, I was so super excited and I am sure in a day or two it will be working.

Yes I wondered that so did nothing, waiting till tomorrow and letting go of the stress of it all

Hi Jo & welcome to the forum. I like the libra a lot. I am an electrician & use power tools all day long. Batt drills etc. Mob phones that need to work or no pennies. If you get a new toy or whatever the battery needs treating the best it can. Leave it on charge for more than a day or more not 2mins. Good luck

Thanks and glad you like the libra a lot. I think I have been unlucky and will be ringing them in the morning. The initial charge was never two minute! It was one hour and now five hours later still not working. I am sure I will get answers from them in the morning.

When you get it working Jo. They give you graphs etc. I think I am quite active at work etc but one thing I found out ! Playing Chess on the computer lowed my bg. I know your head is working but I am used to going up & down ladders & scaffold 😱(proper work):D

Thanks for everyone's support and help last night. I have just come off the phone and the reader is faulty and they are replacing the reader and the sensor. Hopefully it will arrive by Friday. The woman was so kind and supportive and very grateful it is being replaced without any problem.

Great news! 🙂 Hope the replacement works flawlessly! 🙂

Excellent. I've always found them very receptive when I explain any issues I've had.

Interestingly, I had to call them this morning as my sensor (7 days in) fell off yesterday morning. I hadn't pulled or knocked it, and usually I've had to prize them off after 2 weeks. However, again, no problem. A replacement is being sent, plus the packaging to return the defective one.

I'm assuming you need to return the defective reader?

That's great you can get a new sensor and good to hear you have to prize them off after two weeks. Are they ok in water too? So yes I am returning the reader and sensor with the packaging they will send. That reminds me the useless sensor is on my arm and needs to come off! I was hoping to have some readings before a visit to the doctor on Friday as trying to get fast acting insulin which the diabetic nurse and consultant refuse to give me. Oh well just got to keep on breathing and I will get there.

Abbott state they're OK in water for up to 30 minutes and down to something like 3ft, if I recall. I have read of folks using them for longer, and deeper (as in diving), but I think if you called Abbott and told them that they could, understandably, be less interested. The manual or website could confirm that.

If your appointment on Friday was only to discuss your desire for fast acting insulin, would it be worthwhile deferring it for a couple of weeks, so that you have those readings?

You can access all the data (every c15 minutes) by downloading data from the reader at any time. Some of the laptop software generated reports take 5-7 days to gather sufficient data to map any form of trend.

When you have further problems with the system I would suggest that you do not discard the sensor since all the duff ones that I have had since I adopted the system for my own use Abbott have asked to be returned. As regards prising them off? I have never had to resort to these means but I have had one fall off and a couple that were starting to unstick themselves after about 9 days use. I wear one constantly which I believe is how Abbott prefer people to use them. I find that I am able to reduce fingerprick testing and in this respect it does what I want of it. I have not yet resorted to using surgical tape as additional fixing but may have to as my previous one unstuck itself and my present one is looking a bit wobbly on my arm after 5 days
