Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there,
I suffer from type 1 diabetes and I also have very bad acne on my back.
I have been taking Roaccutane to help, but as some as you may know, this increases the inflammation at first so I was prescribed Prednisone (a type of corticosteroid) and when I have it, my blood sugars go hyper.
I was wondering if anyone has suffered from this and has found a solution? Or if anyone could help in any way?
Thanks

Hi Sam, I have no useful advice to give you, but just wanted to welcome you to the forum. Hopefully someone will be able to be more use!

Steroids are well known for increasing your bs levels.

I'm sorry I can't give you much constructive guidance. Only thing that worked for me was extra insulin.

There is no other way, if you have to be on steroids, of counteracting the increase in BG than also increase your insulin.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Glad the accumulated experience of the forum helped Sam. Slightly surprised this wasn’t suggested to you by the dr who prescribed the steroids!
