Hello all.

I was diagnosed as type 1 about 6 months ago. Since then I’ve been browsing various forums for advice and suggestions on how to cope with this.

One of the things I came across was the campaign to contact your MP about the Flash Glucose Monitoring post code lottery and thought I would share the reply I got. Sounds positive. Let’s hope it brings about some changes.

Thanks for doing this.
The Libre has helped me gain far better control than I ever did just with finger pricks. You can’t hid from the graph line lol, the trending arrows have helped me head off a few hypo’s . The libre has a few fans on here, sadly many can only self fund it part time.

Oops sorry where’s my manners, Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Stevens.

What a great response from your MP.
I learnt about the flash monitor on here and have been using it now for about two years.
It has made a massive difference to my management and my confidence.

Welcome @Stevens🙂. Great reply and thanks for bringing this matter to
his attention. I will bring this up with my M.P. as it`s a definite no in my area.

Hi Stevens and welcome to the forum. This is a great response and thank you so much for sharing. Hopefully your response will give others inspiration to contact MPs.
@Stefan Diabetes UK of our Diabetes Voices Campaigns team may be very pleased to see this positive reply? 🙂

Welcome @Stevens ! And yup great to see your MP is coming to the event on Flash, thanks very much for writing & sharing.

As people have mentioned it's still a bit of a postcode lottery unfortunately, with Flash available in some areas on the NHS and not in others. That's why we're getting MPs to come along to the event and hear why they need to join the fight for Flash in their area, and across the UK.

There's still time to invite your MP too if you like - use this quick tool on our website and we'll tell provide you a template letter you can use. (You can even get a calculation of how many times you've had to finger prick!). Showing the MPs that this matters to loads of people affected by diabetes will really help push fair access for flash up the political agenda.
