Hi,

I’ve been prediabetic for over a year, just been recently diagnosed with type 2. Hopefully can find some advice, tips and support here as trying to diet and exercise to reverse my hba1c as much as possible within the next 3 months. Was a bit of a shock even given the prediabetes, guess you never think it will get to that stage.

Welcome to the forum.
Many have found the way to remission is by following a low carb regime which may be suitable depending if you are on medication, if just metformin or hoping to try just diet then this link may point you in the right direction. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/

Hi @Bex42 and welcome to the forum.
We have many members who have had diabetes for many years and some like yourself who have just been diagnosed.
Just to help other members understand your current position, would you like to say what your hba1c score was and what if any medication you are on.

Alan 😉

Welcome Bex42 - i am in a similar situation to you (recent diagnosis after some time as pre diabetic)…… looking to have as big an impact as possible over the next 3 months!

Thanks for the response. My hba1c is 53 and not on medication, hoping to avoid that by diet and exercise.

It’s good to know there are people out there in the same situation (no harm meant by that). I can be of support for you if you need it. Know how hard this can be.

53 is only just in the diabetic range, so no need to panic and you are right, a low carb diet (iro 130gms per day) and exercise can help reduce your hba1c score combined with weight loss, if over weight.

I was diagnosed with an hba1c of 51 and in 3 months reduced it to 46 without medication.

I just controlled the controallables which were

1) Diet
2) Weight
3) Exercise

Alan 😉
