Hello
I have diabetes 2, 5 years now or possibly longer I was on Metformin but that didn't agree with me so on Trulicity now, which also doesn't agree with me.
I also have fibromyalgia so in pain all the time, very few people seem to understand fibromyalgia.
I also have osteo, runs in the family I was told.
Finally I also have mental health problems, so quite a lot to be putting up with.
Seeking info and advice as I don't seem to be getting much support at all.
So hello to everyone

Hi and welcome. I have Fibro so understand that. You have my sympathies. Juggling chronic illnesses can be complex and tiring especially when dealing with meds side effects.

Hi Michael, welcome. I have also have fibromyalgia and in the past it has been a huge problem but am relieved to say it’s been fairly well under control lately. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, it must feel overwhelming at times.
Apart from your medication, how do you manage your diabetes? What diet changes did you make? Knowing a little more might help us offer some advice.

I had to give up on medication - but I don't seem to need it, fortunately.
By eating low carb my blood glucose stays in the normal range - I suspect that I was diabetic for a very long time before diagnosis, but I an improving all the time, just rather slowly. I suppose, at my age - being 68, I should not expect to be dancing around like a spring lamb, but I do feel so much better.

I am not really sure at about diet, was told to eat healthily plenty veg and fruit but thats about it really.
What should I be eating or not eating, diabetes nurse wasn't very helpful. Take the medication.
I am on insulin as well inject once a day, very painful uncomfortable.
I don't eat junk food, I don't like spicy or curry.
I have food allergys which restrict me, very difficult to live any sort of normal life.
I do have a blood test machine, test at least a few times a day, write the figures down, but I don't fully understand what they mean, shouldn't be too low or too high.
So any guidance welcome, just feel ill tired, don't sleep because the pain then tired next day, never ending cycle.

Michael as I’m not on insulin I’ll leave it to one of the others to guide you on food. I appreciate it must be difficult for you with restrictions due to health but I’m not convinced healthy eating is your best way forward but let’s see what those with more relevant insulin experience say 🙂
