I get headaches a little to frequently, could this be a side effect of diabetes?

I started my metformin this morning (which is slow going, 1 tablet for a week, then 2 tablets for a week then the full 3 tablets... gee). Could it be a side effect from that? If so, will it pass?

Side note: I had my eyes checked a few months ago and my prescription altered and it's been fine from that.

Hi Icey, I tend to get headaches if my levels are on the high side. Do you have any feelings of nausea at the same time? I don't think metfrmin has headaches as a side-effect - have a look at the Patient Information Leaflet that comes with the pills, it should say 🙂

Hope you are feeling better soon! 🙂

I get headaches too, very frequently. I never thought it could be to do with high BG levels. I think next time it happens I will check and see how BG levels are sitting.

I just checked my levels and I'm at 9.2 before dinner.

I'm at a loss at what I'm doing wrong I really am.
In what way do you think you are doing wrong? Being 9.2 before dinner? Or getting a headache at 9.2?

High BGs make me feel quite wretched. I have no enthusiasm to do anything and I could just fall asleep. Then an hour later when I get them down I can feel full of energy. They have more affect that a lot of people suspect.

A number of things can cause headaches, your levels being high is one of them. You got your eyes checked so you can rule that out.

I found one of the causes for my headaches was high blood pressure, so it might pay you to get that checked out.

Dehydration is another possible cause, so make sure you get plenty to drink too.

Hope you feel better soon
