Hi everyone! Hope u are all well. I'm just here to see if many people have had the same reaction as me to the libre sensors.? My first 3 sensors were fine, but I then developed an allergic reaction to the glue on the sensors. When I wear a sensor now I get sore, blistered, skin, that really itches and when it heals, I'm left with a scar.

I contacted Abbot, and they didn't seem to care whatsoever.
I recently started a petition to show to Abbot and hopefully get some acknowledgement from them!
I hope it's ok to share the petition here.

I have tried many things including barrier products, tapes, skin tac, replacing the adhesive (couldn't find one that lasted 2 weeks) . It's been a very long process of trial and error. I would love to use Dexcom, but I simply cannot afford it. :(

Hi. I’ve had the same problem with a couple of sensors - I wonder if the ‘problem’ has been solved by the delay in receiving sensors since the start of January ...... I’m expecting a new one on Monday according to the email having waited more than 3 weeks.

I’ve had 3 that have caused a blistered rash. The last one, between Christmas and New Year, reacted so badly it simply fell off after almost 3 days.

Having done a little research I’m wondering if it maybe the alcohol wipe rather than the glue so I am going to carefully wash area and NOT use alcohol wipe and see if that makes a difference. The last few times it’s felt funny as in tacky after alcohol wiping.

As Benny G says they really are worth the effort but the blisters are a worry mine have healed slowly and eventually.

Goodluck with your trials! I hope u can find something that works for u. My blisters/reactions did heal slowly, but I was left with scars from each sensor :( I miss using the libre, but my skin needs me to take a Lil break :(

Have you given up on CGM? Gone back to finger testing?
I'm sorry, I don't have any better suggestions.

I'm taking a break from the libre So my skin can fully heal. Will try again in a little while. It's so frustrating!

It's so frustrating isn't it? I was fine with my first few sensors then I started noticing that I was getting a large purple mark left behind on my skin. Nowhere near as severe as yours, but I have seen some horrendous pictures on Facebook groups 😱 I found that the marks would take at least a couple of monts to fade, so there's something going on, and obviously some people have a much more severe reaction. I hope that you can find something that works for you soon 🙂

I saw a post from someone a while ago encouraging people to report the reactions via the Yellow Card reporting scheme as they thought Abbott were not not taking it seriously.

I reported via the yellow card scheme, and Abbott contacted me. Somebody called me and basically they told me to speak to my dsn about it, and that it is very rare. They didn't seem to care at all.

I have read many report they don't seem to care.

My daughter actually prefers the new glue, she said the old stuff used to itch a bit (although nowhere near as bad as yours) but the new ones don't at all! So whatever Abbott do or don't do they won't please everyone.
