Freestyle Libre 2 - Automatic Glucose Readings stop working

Hi,

I just activated my Freestyle Libre 2 and everything worked just fine in the first 2 hours. I could see the glucose readings updated automatically. However, after the first 2 hours, it stopped working and my Home only shows "Last 24 Hours". (I didn't switch phone or do anything with it, the app just doesn't show the real-time update anymore.)

Has anyone experienced this? Please advise me on how to turn on the automatic glucose readings again. Thank you!

It sounds like it has lost BT connection for some reason and not reconnected. Have you tried scanning with the NFC on your phone to see if that will help reconnect it? To scan there is a sound waves icon at the top RHS of the screen. Touch that and it will say ready to scan, then use the phone to scan the sensor and it should back fill up to the last 8hours of data from the sensor. Hopefully it might then start getting the readings automatically but if not you may have to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Hi, I use iPhone. I check my bluetooth is still connected to the Libre but still, the Home screen shows the "Last 24 Hours" instead of the real-time glucose readings.

I already restarted my phone, tried to turn the bluetooth off then on. Nothing works.

Regarding the uninstall the app, will it delete all the old data? Thank you.

Have you scanned the sensor with the phone and is that working?
Yes, if you uninstall the app and reinstall, then you will lose the data in the LibreLink app but if you created a LibreView account when you installed the app and linked it to the app, then the data will remain stored there. If you didn't create a LibreView account then it might be worth doing that and scanning with NFC to transfer the data before you uninstall.

I’d restart the phone. If that doesn’t help delete the app, restart the phone, then reinstall. If you log in with the same account details it will reconnect to libre

I don't think I'd go as far as uninstalling the app, a restart should be more than enough - it's more likely the Bluetooth transmissions have stopped from the sensor, I have had quite a few fail that way (checked using a BLE scanner to see that the device is no longer producing any data)

I did say restart first then “if that doesn’t help”. Reinstalling the app fixes all sorts of problems that restarting the phone hasn’t helped

Do you need to even restart the phone?
I just turn off Bluetooth for 5 seconds and turn it back on again before going as far as a full restart. That usually allows devices to reconnect to Bluetooth again.

I was led to understand that a restart has the extra benefit of clearing caches, when it can be oddities held in cache that are potentially causing the extra difficulties. This casual learning dates back a few years, so modern tech may not be so susceptible. But there again the old ways often provide sound results?!
