So, I am currently at my heaviest weight ever (20st 9lb!!

) and cannot seem to get myself sorted to do anything about it! I have recently got good control of my HbA1c (it was 47 at review in September), but I am really struggling to find the motivation to get control of my eating habits and start losing weight.
Does anyone have any useful tips on where to start?? I'm not a massive vegetable/salad eater and do not like any fruit at all, so my options are fairly limited with healthy stuff to eat instead of the chocolate, sweets and biscuits I eat at the moment.
I'm sure that the massive doses of insulin I take are partly to blame for my increasing size, but if I ate better, my doses would be lower and therefore I should be able to start shifting some of it??
Sorry for the rant, I think I just need somewhere to get it all off my chest and don't really feel I have anyone else I can talk to about this, they all say 'well you need to stop eating this that and the other and it will be fine'. But they don't have diabetes and don't know the struggle!
Help!!!?

Hi Sparklestar...absolutely right it is so difficult to find the right motivation to completely change your lifestyle and maintain it...lose weight...increase activity...it doesn't come easy...I am a pill popping type 2...so don't have the added difficulty of taking insulin and can offer no advice on that point...however...I was at my heaviest prior to my diagnosis in June this year...happily ( but ignorantly) coasting along to middle age...morbid obesity...obscurity...then...diabetes arrived...stunned...no idea how to deal with it...change your diet everyone said...I ate virtually no vegetables...little fruit...fish was a no no...how do I do that?...but you have...HbA1c a t47 in September...I'd kill for that number at my next review...I understand it's not how to do it per se...but how to sustain it...I've only been dealing with diabetes for approx six months...so early days for me...have had the odd day where I feel can't do this all the time...but...we have to...my veggie intake is not great... have a nutribullet...blitz the veggies I don't eat...disguise them in other foods...have increased my activity by walking...simple steps...but maybe something you could try...not a fruit lover...eat berries with natural yoghurt...I try to think of it all as extra 'meds'...you haven't come that far off the tracks if your HbA1c was 47 just a couple of months ago...if you do as suggested and try to take small steps starting today...you can make your way back to great control steadily...I have days when I'm not in diabetes mode...I come on here and rant...great place to find support...understanding...and advice without judgement or disapproval...good luck...keep us updated.
