8 med/lge onions, fry until fairly soft blend them to a paste, add 1 full jar of pataks med or madras curry concentrate, let it slow simmer with the onions for around ten mins, add a full tube of tomato puree, you'll notice the colour take on a nice rich look, then add small amounts of boiling water to the desired thickness....be careful cause it can look just how you like it and if you leave it a few mins it might get a bit thicker, simmer for approx. 40 mins let it cool and portion it up, I would suggest half pint per portion................if you live near an Indian food wholesaler you can buy the Pataks mild curry paste in big chippy pickle sized jars for around £10 it will save you a fortune
