Has Carly's thyroid function been checked? This causes dry hair. Also high blood sugars over a prolonged period can cause hair problems. If all is ok then can you use a good conditioner on her hair?

Hadn't thought of the link between dry hair and thyroid problems. My mum has thyroid problems and dry hair for as long as I can remembers. SHe is not diiabetic.

On the other hand, my scalp and skin in general have always been dry and I am type 2.

I have underactive thyroid , and very dry hair , might be worth a blood check

She had this problem when dx so that is why they tested it again in Dec to make sure, maybe worth ask again when we go back at end of this month.

I have read that Diabetes and high BGs can cause thinning. My hair is very thin and easily splits, but it's not dry at all, just the opposite in fact.

As Alison has said after dx my hair started to fall out alot while shampooing, but its calmed down now and it is in better condition. I dont know about dry hair but hopefully it all will sort itself out.
