Now a week after been diagnosed still struggling on which drinks I can have obviously ones with less sugar and no sugar in tea and coffee at the moment I’ve been drinking tea without sugar Coke Zero and volvic water the ones without sugar what else does everybody drink on type 1 diabetes

Hi
I struggle with this too and although I drink lots of plain water, sometimes you want something else! My DSN says tea/coffee (no sugar) also weak no added sugar squash, sugar free flavoured water, and sometimes I have a Fanta zero (I don't drink coke). Also if you're not keen on plain water you could add a slice of lemon or some other fruit (lime/orange/Strawberries) to it to jazz it up a little...

I am not T1 but I avoid sugar. Water with lemon or limes, the odd coke zero, coffee by the gallon and I also drink a lot of Alpro unsweetened Almond soya milk which has zero carbs. Green tea

Coffee (black no sugar), Tea (white no sugar), water & Merlot (for medicinal purposes only).... I try & avoid sodas but will occasionally have a diet soda (very much in moderation) if at a restaurant.

All the above plus cocoa made with soya milk and sweetener if you need it. Or Hi-lights or Options if you’re in a hurry and don’t mind 5g carbs!
I drink mostly tea. If I had to give up tea that would be a huge sacrifice!
In pubs I drink dry wine, usually red, sometimes topped up with soda if I want to make it last. I also like real ales but have to take a little insulin to cover those so only have very small amounts.

Being a caffeine addict, I drink black coffee and tea (no sweetener) and Diet Coke and diet Irn Bru, both of which contain caffeine, occasionally diet tonic water. I don’t drink alcohol.

While I still have a bit of sugar in my tea and coffee (slapped wrists) I cut all the other stuff out. I drink Coke Zero, Tango Free, and 7Up Free for fizzy, and I have a bottle of Robinsons No Added Sugar Lemon Squash in the house. I do tend to get stuck with just water when I'm out in the pub though.

I drink ‘stur’ which is a bit like weak squash. I like it as it’s sweetened with stevia as I try to avoid aspartame and sucralose (apart from my G&T!).

It is expensive but I love the orange and mango flavour and they’re small enough to out in handbag when out and about. There is a website and also sell them on Amazon too.

I'm T2 - but I try to avoid sneaky carbs in drinks.

I primarily drink water and various tea's at work. I've got various mint teas, mint and green tea and roobibos/red bush tea. All of those are caffiene free as well.

I do treat myself to a sneaky latte first thing in the morning plus when I'm out with my little boy, i'll have a milky coffee too (because if I'm out being active I'm burning more then sitting at a desk).

At home I generally have water, but if I fancy a change I have the zero sugar lucozade, 15 cal ribena plus zero sugar 350ml fruit shoot hydro's.

I drink all sorts. I have never been able to totally ditch the sugar in coffee but cut it right back to half a tea spoon and that comes up about 5g of carbs ish, coffee has a tendency to raise bg lvls anyway because of the caffeine so i just bolus for it. The same goes for costas starbucks etc.. i always bolus for them and treat them like food rather than a drink. some of them can be really high in carbs. I don't drink any full sugar drinks but stick to flavoured carbonated waters and squashes. nearly all drinks come with a diet version so you could try them, i only have them as a treat though especially because they are not great for you with all the additives etc.

I infuse water too and make big jugs of water with strawberries/ lemon whatever i fancy at the time, it's very refreshing. You can buy infuser water bottles for on the go that have a cage inside for lemons etc. It's an adjustment getting used to not having sweet drinks, but you will find that if you ever accidentally have a sweet drink you will hate the taste, i recognise a sweet drink on the first sip now and hate the taste. Herbal/fruit teas are good if you get the nice ones (otherwise they just taste like hot dust lol ) Lots of ideas already on this post though you won't know where to start lol

A couple of bottles of a nice Bordeaux or Barolo usually does the trick followed a few tots of Sambucca with 3 or 4 coffee beans roasted into it for a minute.

You should see me if I accidentally drink my wife's coffee (we have matching stainless steel travel mugs).

Lol! Since my diagnosis half a bottle is my absolute limit and only with a substantial meal. It goes straight to my head!

It always goes to mine but it never stops me lol
My legs always have a problem and I can never understand why and I have lost count of the number of contact lenses I have lost so I gave up wearing them 🙄
I blame the fresh air.

Water, de-caf coffee & shares in Coke 0. Waiting for my liver test in March & if all is okay (fingers Xd) I will treat myself to a small white wine 🙂 with the wife at a close standby ready to pick me up when my legs go all wobbly!

@ mikeyB, 0 coke during the day, water, or squash, then after lunch time it is de-caff coffee, otherwise caffeinated coffees or coke tend to keep me awake when I should be sleeping, that way round tends to let me live a whole lot better. 🙂
Allan.
