Difference in reading between libre 2 and usual pinprick monitor.

Hi. Just put my new capture on, and keep having to scan it as says lost signal. My sugars have seemed higher though I have changed nothing. So, to double check took the blood sample. Currently libre shows 14, but sample shows 10. Does this difference sometimes happen? I’m wondering if the libre is faulty.

Bear with it until quarter to four then FP again and compare. If still that far out, ring Abbot, tell them and ask them to replace the sensor.
They sometimes do take a while to 'bed in' and start giving true results.

There are a few things to consider with CGMs like Libre due to limitations of physics.
These are described in a sticky thread: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/cgm-limitations-and-precautions.108188

Three things here may be relevant
- You mention you just put your new sensor on. Some of us find we experience “insertion trauma” - our bodies react to the alien object in our arm and can take a day or two to get used to it. Therefore some of us insert our Libre a day before starting it.
- CGMs are most accurate at “normal” levels and can overegg high readings (over 10mmol/l). They are less accurate if your Bag is running in this higher range.
- CGMs and home testing finger prick meters need to comply with accuracy of +/- 15%. For example, if a lab test measured your BG as 12, a CGM or finger prick could read anything between 10.1 and 13.9 to satisfy this standard.

For these reasons, there is nothing to suggest your cgm is faulty with regard to accuracy.

Doubt they’ll replace based on 2 fingerpricks on day 1. They usually want 3 fingerpricks and to have been on at least 24 hours

Thanks. I’ll do that.

thankyou

Yes, that sometimes happens. They're both saying "somewhat too high", but try not to read too much more into the values than that. Compare them when one (and both, we hope) are more in the normal range (4-8, say).
Yes, bit too high but not long after eating. I am new to insulin, was trialing no jardiance (can confirm sugars rose as a result, taking it again), and just had a GAD result of 34, so I suppose just being a bit anxious at the mo. You are right, I’ll keep an eye on it using both methods, and not worry too much.
