Hi all,

Might be a bit of a stupid question, but hopefully someone here has been stupid before and has since going the answer.

We have just been shopping and bought Fanta pineapple and grapefruit zero sugar (Likt).

As someone who is in Atoravastatin and should be avoiding grapefruit juice, does this count as a no go option ?

Thanks.

I would think it means real grapefruit juice or fresh or tinned grapefruit rather than a fizzy diet drink.
Quite a few meds say avoid grapefruit.
Do check the carbs as it is not zero carbs just zero added sugar if it is the one I came accross.

Atorvastatin interacts with grapefruit juice if you drink large quantities (more than 1.2 litres daily), but an occasional glass is thought to be safe.
Currently, healthcare professionals advise it is safe to drink grapefruit juice and eat grapefruit if you're taking other types of statins.”

Yeah, it’s in the guidance.

Too much of it can increase the level of atorvastatin in your blood which can increase the risk of side effects.

I have to say, I've been on Atorvastatin for a while and nobody has ever told me I should avoid grapefruit.
You should always read the leaflet in the box to find out instructions like this
