Just wondered if the DN was slowly going away or is it wishful thinking. Diagnosed T2 in July 2018, but with hindsight I realise that I had DN for a few months before. My BGL is well managed, usually mid 5-6 and the HbA1c was 39.9. The DN was never painful and now almost vanished in my hands. Although it is still there on my soles but even that isn't much in evidence. My question is, does it eventually go or am I so used to it? My ever helpful GP simply shrugged her shoulders:D. She does a lot of that

You will be pleased to know that providing the nerves have not been too badly damaged they can repair themselves once your BGs are under good control so you are not imagining it 🙂
I am very pleased to hear this seems to be the case with you.
Sometimes though nerves that are repairing themselves can cause pain, I hope this will not be the case with
you.

Many thanks for the speedy response. I did wonder and thought that was the case. I believe the phrase' time and patience' is something I really need to embrace🙄

I take alpha lipoic acid acid and it really helps... I know when I have run out and forgotten to order then waiting for it to arrive.

I asked at the education session if things like loss of sensation could be reversed and she said no, once the nerve damage is done that’s it. I’ve seen others say symptoms have improved though.

I was told mine was irreversible, I do hope they're wrong.
