Does anyone know what it is like? We are finally moving into a farmhouse 2 miles from Honiton on 19 May! I have an insulin pump - accu chek spirit combo. Currently supported by Hampshire PCT, does anyone have any recommendations or know of the best Diabetes Centre/Doctors/Hospital?

Hi Phil, try Exeter for a pump clinic. Hope the move goes well.

Thanks Sue, do you think they are good? Also, is it easy enough to change pump funding from one Pct to another?

It might be worth chatting to Lesley at Input Phil - she has a list of which teams are currently doing good things and will be able to advise about the transfer.

I have heard very good reports about Exeter.
No Idea about the change in funding so be well prepared and make sure you have plenty of supplies to last at least 3 months and pref longer.
Might be worth ringing the Exeter diabetes centre and speaking to the pump nurse who can tell you more.

Hi Phil

I moved PCTs a few years ago and was worried there would be a problem with funding. In reality it went smoothly.

Make sure you have enough pump supplies and also prescription medicines before moving. Register with a GP and get them to refer you to the relevant pump clinic. At my first appointment with the new clinic I asked about funding and the DSN sorted it out there and then and set up a new account for my pump supplies. It couldn't have gone better although it did worry me at the time. I also got a letter from my previous consultant with my medication, treatment and complications which I took along to my first appointment otherwise you are faced with a new medical team and a brand new empty set of notes.

Good luck with the move and getting your pump clinic sorted.
