Hi I have been doing really well until the last week or so. I have dreadful sugar cravings
Give me your best tips on how you deal with sugar cravings thank you

Sometimes I find it is better to give in, as I find I try eating other things that don't hit the spot, and sometimes eventually eat what I crave.

If you are reducing carbohydrates then for many people the desire for sweet things will reduce and things will start to taste just too sweet as your taste buds become re-educated'
The Nature Valley, KIND or shop own protein nut bars are low carb less than 10g per bar and are quite sweet.
Making sugarfree jelly and adding berries. Kvarg or high protein yoghurt are low carb.
Dark chocolate in moderation is OK.
There are some recipes on www.sugarfreelondoner for cakes, cookies etc which are low carb.

I hadn't had many until my period started, and then I craved chocolate. I have been successfully keeping myself to a measured small quantity of dark chocolate buttons by counting them out and then putting the pack away before starting to eat them.

Is it possible for you to be able to have a small portion? I know it is, I do not have stuff in the house as its too tempting but sometimes a small Freddo bar now and then hits the spot

I've been having chocolate. Tried milk chocolate and found that I just wanted more and more and little bits were not enough so I switched to really high % dark chocolate. 85% I think it is.
Opened the bar 3 weeks ago and have only just got to the half way point. The bar is 125g and any normal chocolate bar would be gone within 2-3 days but as this is so dark I only want a small amount.

I would probably say I've had around 1 square per week, since reducing carbs I want sweets less. The thing I miss is salty savoury crunch of crisps ( sticking to 2x25g bags per week)

You can get the hint of savoury with your chocolate if you get chilli or sea salt. Aldi or Lindt have them.

Pork scratchings cure that "itch" for me. Perfect combination of protein and fat with no carbs and despite indulging rather too frequently 🙄 , my cholesterol is still going down. My consultant says "Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!" so I can now eat them with less feelings of guilt because I am following Drs orders. 😉

I adore the Snafflin' Pig ones, I just daren't buy them as I'll eat them until I'm oinking.

Looking at your signature, it seems your hba1c has gone done - maybe this is helping cholesterol, as I believe having a high BG can also lead to higher LDL due to some sort of chemical reaction. (I vaguely remember seeing this in a presentation by a doctor who sadly died recently.)

I miss pork. Haven't had it since becoming vegetarian(ish) but was never a fan of scratchings. But I will give the sea salt dark chocolate a go if I can find it, I was always a fan of it and chilli dark chocolate was one of my favourites when I make it because again if it's hot enough and dark enough you only need a little bit.

For dessert - if I get the urge, I usually make a jelly. These days the sugar free jellies are too sweet, so I just use one sachet and then add some plain gelatine and some squash - for some reason that is OK.
I might add some yoghurt once the jelly has cooled, and whip it up, then I add frozen berries. Some of the mixtures of berries seem to have more pips than others so I have pulverised it using a Bamix.
The frozen fruit makes it set quickly and then it is good for several days in the fridge, and even with a whole bag of berries it is not high in carbs, but it is quite high volume, particularly with yoghurt whipped in as it traps air. With a spoonful of cream it is difficult to overeat anyway.

I just thought that I would second those who said that, after a period of avoiding sugary food your tastes do tend to change. I now find CDM or Galaxy chocolate disgustingly sweet and sickly after eating high cocoa chocolate for so long. I've also developed a taste for the strong dark chocolate, I now like it more than I used to.

Sorry I thought you said you were Muslim, must be thinking of someone else.
If you have a GrapeTree shop where you are they have lots of savoury things like roasted broad beans and toasted corn as well as nuts, seeds etc at a good price.

The toasted corn sounds interesting, I've had toasted corn before you can get it in many Indian shops, snacks but I stopped buying them because they were like 20g of carbs for a 25/30g serving. Don't get me wrong, extremely satisfying crunch and I could probably restrain myself to small amounts - but guess like everything try them and test.

Back on the sweet cravings - I saw a couple of photos on Insta today someone shared of dark chocolate drizzled on raspberries and blackberries. it would make a pretty good treat having a few at a time - they weren't dipped so it was very lite on chocolate.
