Hi

Does anyone know how many CPs are in risotto rice?

As it's a type of rice does it get catagorsed in the same catagory as boiled cooked rice?

Can't seem to see it in DAFNE book or diabetes UK carb count ref.

I don't know if it helps but I usually check the packet that I'm using to make the risotto.

Hi yes the packet will be raw weight. When I make it at home my partner works out the total carbs of the raw rice before I cook it and then works out the carbs based upon number of portions. Are you eating out? If it is a chain restaurant they may have carb details online. An alternative is to look at Carbs and Cals which shows photos of different foods with the carb content. It is available as an app or as a book.

Ah forgot about carbs and cals book. There's a mushroom risotto in there so that's close enough. Thank you

But remember, Ben, that even though it may be lowish carbs you may still get an unacceptable spike.

Short grain rice can be a bit vicious on the spiking front
