hi,

I have been suffering low blood pressure recently, along with my head feeling cold, even though the rest of me feels warm. This is causing more mucus than is needed as my head thinks it's suffering a cold.

It gives me constant headache and neck pain as a result of thinking I am cold.

I am type 2 with a last reading of 53, but I expect it will come down further.

if I sit up, my head will get cold, if I lay down it tends to feel better.

I have started to add salt to my diet in the hope it will raise blood pressure as the last couple of months I've been watching my food & salt is virtually out of my system.

Has anyone else had something similar ?

The body needs salt so that could be your problem. You really need to see your GP and get yourself checked out.
Oh and do own up you have stopped using salt.

@Derek Stubbs, as Pumper Sue has already said, you need to see your GP and describe your symptoms to them.
Please let us know how you get on.

Hi. As @Pumper_Sue says the best thing you can do is see a gp , I'd try to get an on the day appointment if I were you.
I hope whatever the cause, you recover quickly

I am increasing my salt now. I have porridge every morning & have started adding plenty of salt & the occasional glass of warm water with salt later in the day.
I need to add more protein aswell, ham & chicken look good options & have some salt aswell.

I also get some mouth ulcers so by adding salt, they should reduce.

Since being diagnosed in April, I have eaten very little salt, so hopefully over the next few days, my aches & pains will ease as I know the body needs salt
to aid muscles in getting the right amount of fluids. If no salt, fluids can just flush straight through.

Err, it's being - medically - recognised more and more, that lowering salt in our diets doesn't actually do us any good at all !! - much like dietary fat not affecting serum cholesterol readings.

(Funny that the two countries who eat most salt naturally in their diets which were included in the original study that was instrumental in decreeing that dietary salt was bad for us - ie Japan and S Korea - also have the lowest rates of heart failure, isn't it! Made me laugh - I'll just say 'Ancel Keys' - and leave it at that!)

See http://vernerwheelock.com/267-the-salt-fix/ then click on the book he's talking about, and then click on 'Author' to see the doctor who wrote the book's 'credentials' rather than just believing me or Vernon.

I think you are right Jenny, another of these stories over the last forty years or so saying fat & salt is bad for you, yet, there are two of the most natural things humans have eaten for hundreds of years, then comes along some food processing company that wants to use "false" or so called low salt & get backed by governments as they pay them £millions, then all of a sudden salt & fat is bad for us. Funny how diabetes is a modern desease, since processing of foods started.
My dad has been bringing me his allotment grown Veg, & I have to say I feel more energised after eating his stuff instead of the supermarket veg

Can't beat fresh anything - sadly we don't have easy access to a good varied selection of really fresh F&V where we live.
