To cut a very long story short. The Clinical Pharmacolgist hadn't read my notes, once I realised that I decided to
lead the chat. I told her I would like to refuce the metformin by 1 and asked if she knew why I was still taking three tabs when my Hba1c has been constantly in 30s. Her response was, it is the Clinician's decision. Not good enough for me. She said I could make an appointment to discuss the reason why with the Clinician . I suggested I reduce it by one, she agreed with the caveat I have an HbA1c test in three months time. I agreed.

Next, the Cholestrol, I could see the direction the wind was blowing, I told her after my last experience with a Statin I am rather nervous. A quick check on pc to my records... sigh. I then said about lowering Cholestrol drugs and that Ezitimbe had been mentioned. She agreed (at that point she probably wanted me to leave ) WITHOUT the additional statin with a liver function test in three months time.

She told me she was very new and I could see she was young which explained her frequent response that she would need to ask the Clinician. Can't help thinking that a bit more supervision from other members of the practice would help her a little. Everyone has to learn about their job with assistance from more experienced staff...she also said an Hba1c of 49 needs to be dealt with by metformin, which surprised me a little.

Left the surgery, straight to supermarket for a bar of chocolate

Yes, everyone has to learn @Sharron1 but trust you to get that one! At least you were able to wrangle your metformin down which is a first, and well done on managing to keep off the statins for the time being. Fingers crossed it stays that way x

Thanks, I have just about recovered and hopefully will forget about them for the next few months 🙄
