Chia seeds are now a TikTok phenomenon but be sure not to eat several pounds at one sitting.

Some TikTok users tout the purported benefits of an “internal shower” — a viral trend that involves drinking a supposedly cleansing sludge of chia seeds, water and lemon to relieve constipation and aid with weight loss. The hashtag #internalshower has been viewed more than 100 million times.

Such nonsense - kids these days know nothing. What you really should do with chia seeds is pour them into a soy milk flat white coffee turning it into a soy chia coffee porridge thing. Or pour them into soy milk with fresh strawberries.

But some nutritionsts caution against overdoing it: If you eat too many chia seeds — say, several pounds in a sitting — you run the risk of bloating, cramping, discomfort and diarrhea ....

Chia seeds are really good in homemade jam too #delicious :D

They're intriguing, like an alien food substance. I love adding a bit of water then coming back 5 minutes later to a dish of wallpaper-paste-like gel - fascinating! Great ideas @Eddy Edson and @Nige13...that coffee pud sounds lush.

I’d be hard pressed to eat several pounds of anything in a sitting!😱

me too, I wonder who did to discover such a problem!

Are chia seeds better than porridge? If I have overnight oats for breakfast which sounds so sensible then I get a massive spike. Maybe I'll try chia instead.

I have chia seeds but only use them as a thickening agent as in jams 🙂 so sorry, no help but give it a try and let us know. I always find them a little jelly tbh 🙂
