so cant have any from today Staff going to chase it up tomorrow Will a couple of days hurt?

I'm no expert but I don't think it will hurt for a day or two. My chemist would have it in within a day, but he is a local independent pharmacy and really looks after his customers.

Metformin is one of those drugs which needs to get into your system rather than having an immediate effect. I think a couple of days should be ok Gail, but hope you get some in time for Christmas.

thanks peeps they expect to have it tomorrow hopefully

You’ll be fine without it. If it’s several weeks till you get any then you might want to restart at a lower dose and build up

I recently had to have my Sukkatro SR prescription, changed to a generic, Metformin slow release. Sukkatro was unavailable for a few months.

Sukkarto is already a generic form of Glucophage SR

No it is not it is a specific brand of Metformin Slow Release, of which there are many, and the Pharmacist would not supply until a generic prescription was issued.

“A generic drug, or simply generic, is a pharmaceutical drug that contains the same chemical substance as a drug that was originally protected by chemical patents. Generic drugs are allowed for sale after the patents on the original drugs expire.”

Sukkarto is already a generic form of glucophage which was the original trade name.

It is not GLucophage, that is a brand name I know what Generics are! In 15 years I have never been given Glugphage! My Metformin has been many diddfernt brands but not Glucophage. My prescription is now for Metformin Slow release! My previous prescription was specific to Sukkarto.

I'm on metformin SR. Only been on it since mid August and not yet had a problem getting it. Got my latest prescription last week. So far its always been sukkarto. I'm also on perindipol for BP and I've had lots of different names and sometimes they are green and sometimes white. I think they come 30 to a packet but my prescription is for 28 so I often get lots of individual ones. There have been supply problems with perindipol but again I am OK til next year.
