Since diagnosis in 2006 I have had it once. I know non diabetics who have had it several times.

Apparently once it is in your system you are more likely to get it again, but you know you have it and are able to get to the docto much quicker so the antibiotics get an earlier start. You probably wont get it again, but it is something to be aware of. Those that have had it several times have just been very un lucky.

I recently in January had Cellulitis in both legs, the left leg was the worst, it was inflamed and constantly itching, I was treated with antibiotics and a steriod cream, I was told by the GP that it can be brought on by diabetes, as soon as the cellulitis cleard up, I was called into the clinic and my legs were measured, and I was given a prescription for 3 pairs of compression stockings which I have to wear all the time, and I have to go back after 3 months to be remeasured and prescribed with another 3 pairs of stockings which I understand are replaced every 3 months.

Hi hectorzaza,

I had celluitis on my heel 14 years ago it was agony could not put weight on my foot eventually was admitted to hospital and put on intravenous antibiotic
was in for a couple of days. First thing doc asked was I diabetic and then took a finger prick which came back neg. It is caused by small crack or very small opening in the skin which might not be visible to the eye diabetics are more a risk because of a weak imune system also poor bg control allows bacteria to grow more rapidly in the tissue😱
Hope this helps🙂

I had a problem with cellutitis on my right calf about 6-7 years ago. You're right it was agony and I could barely walk for weeks. I was left with what looked like a large faded bruise on my leg for about a year afterwards. Antibiotics cleared it in the end.
