Carbs equal less than 130g per day
Fat equals ?
Protein equals ?
please advise.

The restriction of carbs should be such that you see normal numbers after eating - I could not manage 130gm of carbs on a daily basis, so I stay under 40 as a rule, with just a few days eating more, and it really is just a few. It means that I still stay in the normal range and also that I am gently decreasing body fat year on year. I used a meter to sort out what I could and could not eat, but now I don't test as I have settled on a way of eating which seems to work.
Protein and fats are just what is natural from the foods I chose - I buy whole chickens, joints of meat or chops and I save the fat. I often cook the meat ahead of time then cool the juice from cooking and skim off the fat, or just separate it off and use it to cook the vegetables - it depends on just how fatty the meat was

i have started the low carb diet on Diabetes uk. Thet ask you to fill in your requirements.
The before and after metre has no way off telling me my
blood sugars it goes down when i eat and up when i don't at times. .
i do have a very slow stomach as sometimes i am hungry other times not. Sometimes bowels empty all day other times i cannot go.
So i thought id retry low carb that is not what i have done . i have changed the rice for cauliflower etc . Tried yo eat as before . tried low fat diets . tried dietician diets. All worked good but since last op i go out less don”t do Nordic walks or ride my bike . i cant do as much in garden. So mobilty is what i think has raised my blood sugar. i want to try this diet but need to fill
in markers.
i am happy you have found a solution. Thanks gir sharing.

The only way of eating which gives me a feeling of well being is low carb - I have a couple of copies or Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution which I followed whenever I could get away from the supervision of GP or nurses.
I find low carb with mixed vegs, salad, stirfry, mushrooms and very little processed food seems to be so easy and benificial.

reply see I find it hard as we base a lot of meals on bread or a bread substitute. So I really struggle with just eggs and mushrooms and tomatoes. Going to feel sick eating high-fat sausages and rifting with bacon but will have to try. Boiled eggs and salad is not the same as boiled eggs and toast. Yoghurt is good but I really have got fed up with it with fruit and nut for breakfast. So Bfast I really start feeling like diet before I start. Lunches are the same I think if I SEE another salad and no wrap. pitta bread. foccacia, roll or bread. Soup on its own is definitely not going to feel like not on a diet. Cheese and eggs and fish again okay but Yes for LIFE this is really something I feel I am not going to feel of a diet. I don't get the buzz folks do here so I did try German Rye bread but not sure if it was good or bad as from Market and it tasted too good.
Dinners you get so fed up with Celeriac which I had last night. and the previous night. Still got more to find this this week.

On low carb I do not eat very much at all, so I have no bother over lunch - I just don't eat it. These days, I find I am only eating once a day. It is after 2pm and all I have swallowed is a half pint of water when I got up.
You could try making wraps using a 'chaffle' recipe - they are cheese waffles, but the same mixture, perhaps diluted a bit and well blended then cooked in a frying pan would make a good substitute for floury wraps. There are quite a few recipes available online.
If I have breakfast it is often scrambled eggs with grated cheese and a tomato or a little finely chopped onion, though fish of various kinds with coleslaw is good in warm weather. On cold mornings a stirfry with meat left over from dinner is a good start to the day.

That looks like a good varied menu, you can cook your eggs in different ways for variey, you could try butternut squash instead of celeriac. Do you like curry as cauliflower, squash and chickpea curry is good, you can add some paneer or halloumi.

Sounds good .
Today i was very very pleased . Not good for some but instead of 15 something it was 13.3 when i put ftf. but before bfast 15.9 . So i was a little disheartened but plod on it was 15.6 after. Again down after id eaten. i had a black coffee out so was pleased as i enjoyed that. before lunch it was 13.3 then after its 15. . Its a start though. John (Hubby ) bought me Life without diabetes Roy Taylors book which I think shows a lot of support on trying the new plan. He helped me set up the dashboard too. So i am feeling as if I have his support this time.
I am feeling calmer for the first time since the big shock. The waves have gone back n forth.
So many of you have put up with my using you all as my sounding board. i cant thank you all enough. Im afraid to say but Ill need you all to help me. i can do this but I only know i can with all your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It is all doing me good so far . Still not got below 10 in the morning but its doing it in the day. I'm really pleased so far. Things I just thought were low carb are indeed those little pennies that add up and soon add up.
Light does not mean light at all and Onions well.....
I am pleased though this plan is at least giving me a great diet . I had no pasta mac n cheese with celeriac fries. I had a 1/4the portion for me hubby scoffed that and had bread with a lot of the sauce as he had what was left. He loved loved it.
I could have had his portion of celeriac fries but i was good. See its portion control too. The scales are moving the right way the BS are moving the right way.
Oh I am typing this so I don't eat. However I am not too hungry at all. going to make Courgette soup now. Twill miss the bread but I'm getting used to it now.
