I am going certainly going to take it ,something my GP says isn't always done despite it being prescribed

My problem is I already take lots of medications for various issues and its very confusing having another 3 .....my dose is 3 x
500mg daily .....tablets to take , morning , lunch and evening

Does anyone take them all in one gulp at breakfast or 2 breakfast , one evening ?
Apart from possible side effects does it make any difference ? I have got used to the side effects now .

Maybe I need to speak to my gp or nurse ?

What does it say on the medication packet or what did the pharmacist tell you. I think slow release you can take all at once but do check.

Hi Taffyboyslim, worth speaking with your GP or 111 for advice on this as there may be a good reason for the directions you've been given.

I take mine once a day with my main meal and have done for over 10 years. I take 3.

So long as slow release version, should be fine. I take all 4 after breakfast with all my other tablets (BP).

The question is are you blood levels in a range you and your doctors are healthy with ?
What Dr? I am looked after by a Diabetic Nurse! I have been on my current regime of medication for a number of years. My current HBA1C is 54.

I have a doctor with an interest in diabetes ......but no diabetic nurse .......I have the practice general nurse

How high was your blood level when first diagnosed ? Metformin may have had a big job ?

You must be in the diabetic range if you are taking metformin so you should change your signature to Type 2 otherwise it confuses people and they may suggest something inappropriate.

I was Pre Diabetic for 2 years and Diet and Exercise for another 4years,and been on either 1,2, or 3 medications the for the remains 16 years, and currently on 2. My HBA1C has not been above it's current level.

Has it been lower ?

I take 2x1000mg (equivalent to 4 x 500mg just even more enormous) slow release metformin once a day after tea, with no problems whatsoever. I find it best to take them all with the largest meal as not enough food and I get side effects.

Thank you , unless the pharmacist says otherwise to me , I am going to try that approach but I will ask her first .
