Been to the hospital tonight to get the camera results, and was given the all clear. The consultant then showed me my iron levels history in a graph format going back to 2013 and not once did they fall into the normal range :(

Now moving on to the next stage and being referred to have 2 scans of my liver to check that out and then came the next one as I am not absorbing iron in tablet form and currently on liquid iron meds to see how that works, came what might be me having a second home from home as will need regular visits to the hospital to have iron by IV and monthly blood tests to see how things go.

Looking up what happens with the IV and side effects, the web page stated the problems associated with the lack of iron. To which I have most if not all of them, makes one wonder why the docs never took action previously to get things sorted out. :(

With luck in the next few weeks can have a few things sorted out and with greater luck have the hospital referral to be started on insulin pending if I can get past the hospital block on them refusing the referral.

I hope so too, would be nice to have things sorted out and back on form.

Take care, Pav & hope you get sorted soon.

Glad to hear about the all-clear! 🙂 And great to hear that they now appear to have a plan - I hope that you can start to get things properly sorted out before the year is out and start 2017 a 'new you' 🙂

You must be very relieved at this good news. I think it is brilliant that they at last have a plan. I have everything crossed that it works for you. Good luck and sending you a big hug {} 🙂

If the hospital block on the referral is because your HbA1c is "too good", surely they need to consider that your low iron levels will have distorted the HbA1c results?
Hope you finally get the treatment you have been needing for so long.🙂

Doubt they have, the previous refusal was based solely on the HbA1c level not being 58.
