I broke a tooth the other day, or rather, it just broke - I wasn't eating pork scratchings or anything that might cause it to break! Got an appointment tomorrow to see if it can be filled - wish me luck! 😱 🙂

If it's more than a pound it'll be too expensive, the state my finances are in! :( There's no pain at the moment, although I'm not relishing the moment he starts drilling 😱 He's a very good dentist though, and has fixed worse ones for me - be glad when it's all over. I'm a bit fed up of all the medical stuff at the moment. Apart from having to deal with the diabetes every day, I've also got to arrange an operation to have a skin cancer removed, an optician's appointment (haven't had eyesight checked properly for 3 years) and now the blooming dentist as well! I know they are all trivial things, but I managed to avoid any medical-type thing for decades until I hit my half-century! 🙄

Sounds like you are falling apart Alan.😉
Seriously though, if he is a good dentist he may be able to repair the tooth.

Bless you! It's a pain (literally) when things like this all hit at once. I went through a spell of teeth breaking and I really feared I would have dentures by the age of 50. That seems to have stopped though. You really are going through it at the moment aren't you. A day out to Birmingham is just what you need :D

Hope all goes well for the filling Alan.

Alan massive hugs. I'm so sorry that you have to have an operation for the skin cancer. I'm guessing from previous posts that you weren't expecting that. Being dental phobic I have complete sympathy about the dentist........last time I went I shut my mouth as he was putting the needle in so I think you are very brave. I hope that the opticians appointment is straightforward. Thinking of you. Lots of love from me and Susie 🙂

Sorry to hear this Alan :( just what you don't need. Hope everything goes ok at the dentist (((hugs)))

Oh yuk. I don't MIND the dentist as long as he doesn't have to do anything (rare) - but the prices they charge when they do something add insult to injury. And when it takes em one minute and they don't do anything, why does it cost nearly as much?

Not logical, captain.

Is the skin thing just under a local? Hope so. Is it anywhere that shows? FWIW I'm forever having things taken off me - usually Sebhorreic keratoses - always sent off, 'in case' but been lucky so far, however I have a new one on my face now which suddenly appeared overnight on hols so I need to make an appt with the appropriate GP to get him to cast his eye over it. Anyway I was going to say, the local seems to work really well on most parts of my skin - which isn't the case with my gums at the dentist and they sometimes have to give me so much I can hardly swallow afterwards and can't feel my nose for hours! So hope it works just as well for you, wherever it is.

You'll be OK Alan, except for maybe your wallet.:D I'll be thinking of you when I'm in the dentist tomorrow morning with a broken tooth, although I'm lucky, I can just leave mine behind to be fixed.😉

Fingers crossed your dentist can sort your tooth out with the minimum of aggro - same goes for your skin op etc too!

Ouch! Hope all goes well at the dentist.

Ouch! Hope all goes well with the dental visit

Well, I arrived for my appointment at 10:15 and was out again by 10:25. Most of the time was spent with the dentist discussing how he could do lots of unnecessary work and charge me a lot more, but he wasn't going to do that. He's so honest! 🙂 No drilling or anything required, it was a clean 'mechanical fracture', no decay just a piece of tooth that had broken away from a 40 year old filling. Before I went in I was expecting it to cost me about ?50-60...total cost: ?18.65! 🙂

Really, I've said this before, but if anyone lives in the Southampton area - even if you need to travel a bit - if you are fearful of dentists and don't want to get ripped off, then it's worth going to this practice. I've been going there for over 10 years now and the service has been impeccable every time I go. PM me for details if you would like them 🙂

Glad to hear that you got the tooth saved and the dentist gave you the best possible price.
