Hi Rosie, very sorry to hear about your ankle, what happened? I broke my leg once, so I do know how you feel - very boring! Perhaps the patterns you were seeing were due to painkillers, hunger and tiredness. hen I broke my leg I was really hungry all the time - I think it may have been something to do with my body needing more energy to help repair the injury.

I hope that you are up and about again very soon, take care 🙂

Thanks northener

Yes, I can now walk fine - I went for a 10k run this morning! 🙂 So don't worry, I'm sure you will be fine - just take it steady and do all the exercises the doctors/physio tell you to do 🙂 I didn't have a wheelchair, I was on crutches for 3 months. At first I couldn't go out of the house, but eventually things got better and I managed to get to the shops and back (not very far!).

At the time I did worry if I'd ever be able to walk without a stick, let alone run, but now you'd hardly know. Get yourself a good stock of books and DVDs! 🙂

Wow Alan a 10k run this morning. Makes my 20 minute stroll seem like chicken feed lol. Are you tired now and how are your sugars?

NorthenerThanks

I'm training for a marathon in October, so the 10k was less than a quarter of the distance I'll have to run 😱 A bit tired, but will take a day off tomorrow then try and run a bit further on Thursday 🙂 Blood sugars are fine up to about 15k, then I need to top up with a jelly baby or two!

Thanks you made me feel a lot better .who needs doctors lol :D

Good to hear Rosie, I'm glad I could help 🙂

Rosie, I sympathise. I broke my ankle a couple of years ago falling down stairs I've been using for 25 years. Like you I wondered why! It is very boring being stuck sitting down with your leg up. Are you non weight bearing? I couldn't wait to get the cast off and get back to work. For some reason my boss didn't want me back with the cast on. I wish you well. 🙂

Thanks maryann, yes I musnt put it to wait on it until 6 weeks are up

Ouch sounds painful, there's nothing worse than being stuck for six weeks. I've broken my left ankle twice and the same foot twice (lefty always get it 🙄) and the ankle healed very well and with a bit of physio I was up and about a couple of weeks after the cast came off, it was about six weeks post cast before it felt back to full strength both times. The foot breaks took longer for some reason but I've got fully functioning ankles and feet now. I learned my lesson about Irish dancing though, don't try it after a five year break, because broken bones are the result :D
