I have been eating blueberries/raspberries etc with a sprinkling of pomegranate with 3 good dollops of full fat yoghurt with a few assorted nuts. I can mange ok on this but I don't want it every day! Plus pot ot of green tea with a miniscule amount of sugar.
Weekends I have bacon egg and tomato but no bread. This is OK but I miss the bread/toast!
I could really do with another choice thats easy to make. I can grill/airfry/pour out of a packet but no cooking at 6.30am.
I look at recommendations but its always avocado or food I would normally eat at dinner like stuffed peppers.
So I am happy with berries/eggs but what else is there? Someone suggested one weetabix but that seems a little mean and I am off the grains. Sausage seems a little heavy for breakfast. Porridge is grains. I am useless at omelettes.
Anybody got any other ideas? Has to be easy to make while half asleep and be T2 friendly and not raise BG beyond 8.5 hopefully.

Depends on your budget. scrambled egg and smoked salmon, creamy mushrooms. If you can cope with 1 small slice of toast it might give you a bit more choice with things which are protein and healthy fats to have on it.

Hi,
Thanks for that. My only problem with toast is I love it! And I may need to have 2 slices and on the second would put butter and a smidgeon of jam. Depending on the results of my blood test next week I will see if I can slacken my strict(ish) regime.

You could have half the slice with the egg and the other half with a teaspoon of butter and jam.
Low carb is not NO carb.

I got bored with yoghurt and fruit too!! I have toast or two Oatibix with berries. Ok so far. I loathe Avocados, rather have a ham sandwich made with toast

If you would eat things like bacon and egg at breakfast time, have you thought about pre-cooking them?
You can cook eggs in advance and keep them in the fridge, same with bacon.
Even fried eggs can be stored and re-heated.....which I only learned recently!
I try to make as much as I can in advance because I'm rubbish with food in the mornings and could never face cooking - or even the smell of food first thing, bleugh!

All well and good if you don’t cause an unacceptable rise with the grain based options.

It either causes me an unacceptable rise or isn’t enough to keep me full because the portions need to be so tiny. I don’t think that’s unusual either

When you say you are useless at omelettes, can you clarify? I just fry some mushrooms and onion in a pan with butter or lard, beat up the eggs with a little milk in a container and then pour the mixture in the pan on top of the mushrooms and onions and leave to cook, usually adding cheese and maybe ham on top. It cooks quicker if you have a lid, but basically just cook until it sets. You can have this hot or cook the night before and have cold the next day with salad and coleslaw if you like.

AM I allowed toast?
There’s no food laws, have what you like. You’ll either need to manage portion sizes or medication or exercise to balance out any foods you choose to eat.

He said no cooking at 6.30am. I don't blame him either. I have toast with Flora and some cheese or ham with minimal effect.
He said the air fryer was ok so presumably the microwave is too. You can cook bacon in the air fryer or scrambled eggs in the microwave. Or you can boil eggs at the weekend and have over the next couple of days.

Thanks all for suggestions. Seems to me you cant get away from bacon and eggs - its better on toast.
Once I am under the 48 mmols/mol I will be more adventurous. Just a beginner hoping to reverse T2 asap but we will soon see as blood test next week.

You also have the option of skipping breakfast entirely or eating non breakfast foods. Last night’s dinner left overs isn’t unheard of in my house if I do want breakfast. No rule it has to be traditional breakfast food and in many parts of the world there’s no such thing. Just the first meal after waking (at some point)

Chia seed “pudding”/porridge might be an option. Literally chia seeds soaked in an appropriate “milk” or watered down cream overnight. Bit like rice pudding if you get the consistency right. Can be tinkered with adding cinnamon or seeds or berries etc.

Pre cooked boiled eggs, cold meats and cheeses continental style perhaps?

Lard???? Goodness me, would never put pure animal fat in my body. I would rather stay a controlled diabetic!!! I think it's time to leave this forum

Or perhaps do some reading and study about low carb high fat, its benefits in type 2 and the questions being widely raised about the saturated fat debate before making a decision. The nhs even support it as a method of control and its use is spreading all the time.

Would you be happy to make some bread? I found a Flaxseed bread recipe here on the recipes section here some years ago put up by Mark Parrott. He got it from dietdoctor.com I think. Also I have an almond flour bread recipe. The carbs are much lower. I am not suggesting everyone would like it but it is a thought.

If you google low carb bread you will find some recipes. They don't take long to put together. Just a thought if you are missing your bread. Also perhaps just have half a slice every other day or something.

I don't cook with lard either but I suppose everyone has to decide what is best for them. A friend of mine is quite overweight and eats whatever she wants, all the high sat fat stuff like butter, cream etc. and has desserts and chocs, biscuits etc when she feels like. She has no problems with cholesterol or blood sugars and here is me watching what I eat and my cholesterol is "on the brink" and blood sugars pre diabetic again.

Not trying to argue or offend but just saying that people are just so different.

I agree people are different. I am lactose intolerant and always have been but I can tolerate a bit of butter. I just remember my mother in law using liberal amounts of Lard. She and father in law did have heart problems. I am a child of the low fat era 40 years ago. I lost 4 stone in weight and it's stayed off. I guess I am conditioned to low fat. I don't mean to offend but I was just shocked to see Lard as part of a type 2 way of eating
