Hi All. I’ve been type 2 diabetic for just over 10 years and have spent 9 years of that in denial. I was recently admitted to hospital after a Gastro virus laid me out and whilst there they went to town on my Diabetes!!!!. Sugars off the charts, keytones horribly high etc. Nine days later I’m back at home and giving this disease the respect I should have from the start. I’m on Insulin (hopefully short term) and my levels are all heading very much in the right direction, not had to inject rapid insulin for two days now as readings are in spec and stable. I have had a couple of Hypos since coming out of Hospital so will speak to GP at my review re maybe ditching the rapid Insulin and sticking to the long acting one. I appreciate everything I’m experiencing now is MY fault but I’m going to get on top of this and give it the respect it deserves. Looking forward to being a part of these forums and any advice/help is gratefully received x
