Has anyone tried these are they good, bad, indifferent or don’t touch with a barge pole.

I recieved a letter yesterday from my gp practice saying that they had noticed that though I’m on insulin I had no repeat prescription for needles , erm ??? so they’ve added the above to my prescription well I’ve got proof in black and white that I did have but of another brand lol, anyway I’m happy to try another brand as I’ve been unhappy with the quality of the last 2 packs of Omnican fine, blocked needles, more bruising than usual and catching on my delicate skin when trying to get the darn thing out, ouch

I'm using BD Viva 4mm/32gauge

I don't have anything to compare them to as that's what I've been using from the start but I've rarely had any problems with blunt needles etc, I rather like them if I'm honest 🙂 xx

I use the BD Viva 4mm as well, and I get on with them really well. I changed to them a couple of years ago from the glucoRx, which were horrid!

BD are one of the best known needle manufacturers (and the complete disposable syringes too!) there is and have been so since before I was diagnosed, since they were already using their syringes in hospital wards for virtually every injected drug!

Thank you everyone.
@trophywench I thought but wasn’t sure that when I was put on insulin whilst in hospital a couple of years ago the needles they gave me were the BD brand and I was very happy with them.

@Mini-Vicki . I’ve tried those GlucoRx needles in the past , I agree with you they are horrid.

Thought I’d give an update. I am using the new needles and am well happy with them, I’ve put the other brand away as spares, these new ones only have 90
in the box and they’ve put me back down to one box 28x4 = 😱, so need to have a chat with gp soon.

No point in giving you two boxes straight off really though, what if you'd found them vile to use! LOL

I am glad you have found these okay. I was switched to GlucoRX VERY Briefly which were horrid.
You should be able to reorder your needles (in good time) once you need to.

Please can I ask why people don’t get on so we’ll with the glucoRX? They’re the only one I’ve ever been prescribed so nothing to compare it to, just wondering if there’s an improvement to be had! 🙂

Hi @Roisin . TBH I found they were the worst brand I’ve ever tried. I bruised easily, they often caught on my flesh when I removed them some seemed blunt and I often bled afterwards. If you are having problems with them I advise trying to swap to BD Viva they are the best ones I’ve tried,

Hi, thanks for the reply. I do get a lot of this (in fact nearly always) I just thought it was par for the course, will definitely ask to try another 🙂

@Roisin , I hope you can get swapped to these needles, I’m sure you’ll find them much better.
