Just woke up feeling very hot, knew something was wrong as I'd been thinking how I needed to put my winter duvet on it was so cold when I went to bed. Tested - sure enough, 2.4. I last injected at 16:45 yesterday, so this was a full 8 hours afterwards  As many of you will know, I don't need a basal insulin, so I can't attribute it to that. I was 6.1 before bed. 🙄

I've decided that, in a parallel universe, there is another me who has injected far too much lantus but is sleeping the night peacefully away on a rock-steady 5.5...

Have consumed copious jelly babies followed up by a lovely slice of cheese on toast - well, you might as well make the best of a situation, eh? 🙂 Just tested again and I am 6.8.

Oh yuck, hope you feel better now!

Yes I can sympathise with that too, I hate diabetes sometimes and I haven't even got it! We're just getting back into school routine which usually means I need to reduce basal overnight when daughter has been doing after school activities. After Brownies last week she said she didn't need this as she was a bit high at bed time. So we didn't do it and she dropped to 3.8 in the night - only borderline I know, but I thought I'd better give her something just to stop her dropping further.
Tonight she has been dancing, which usually requires more of a reduction. Again she was a bit high and said she didn't need one but we corrected it and I said she'd almost certainly drop later so did 10% reduction anyway. Tested at 1 am and got 9.8 so looks like we didn't need it after all. Grrrrr...
We are seeing the nurse tomorrow (sorry today! :D) to go on a CGM for a week to see what we can learn. What's the betting the D will behave perfectly for a week and the nurse will tell me we're doing really well and she can't see what I'm moaning about!

Yuck. Not nice. Big hugs

Sorry to hear this Alan, hope it's a loooooong time before you get another.

Thanks guys 🙂 Feel a bit wiped out this morning, probably more because of the unaccustomed high waking level (7.6) rather than any after-effects of the hypo itself. On the plus side, I woke up! 🙂

Looks like the Diabetes Fairy has decided my life is too boring and spicing it up every now and then by tickling my fickle pancreas 🙂

Hope you're feeling a little better now!

Aw, poor you, Northener. Hope you feel better as the day progresses.😱

Must be something in the ether Northe, I've been battling lows all day too. My lowest reading was at 5am with a 2.1 but since then I've struggled to get above 4.0 and stay there. Banana toastie worked, for about an hour and cheese on toast didn't worked at all. In sheer desperation I'll be heading for the chip shop shortly, if that doesn't work, nothing will. Currently at 3.6 and out of jelly babies. I didn't take my Lantus today and haven't had any Novorapid either. Yesterday's Lantus must be out of my system by now but there's no sign of any real rise. Sigh.

My goodness! That really is strange! 😱 I hope things settle for you soon. I've been largely OK today, caught a 4.2 mid-afternoon and snacked it up with a Twirl. Let's see how we both fare tonight - peaceful slumber, hopefully!

The chips, my remedy of last resort, seem to have done it. I'm up to 6.6 but will be testing frequently to make sure the numbers stay up.

Not good :(. Hope it was a one off, but might be worth setting an alarm and checking tonight?

I think it's so disappointing when you've had a fairly good (for me) run of decent levels then you have a bad one. I keep trying to think what I've done wrong but sometimes it must be the fairy. Glad you are back on track now.

Oh bum fluff! Just when you think it's safe another one pops up. I wonder if the body can store insulin? I'm sure mine has a hamster cheek somewhere where it squirrels away all those tasty bits of insulin it's managed to produce, then raids the special stash at the exact moment I don't want it to 🙄

Hope you had a better night last night and stayed above the wire, keep a close eye on everything 😱

Thanks KC 🙂 Better last night, went to bed on 6.2, tested at 2 am and 5.8, woke to 5.3 🙂

Insulin can 'hide' in areas of fatty tissue, apparently for months or even years, but usually in people who have been diagnosed for decades and have problems with dyslipodaemia from injecting so often over the years (scar tissue forms). I don't think that can really apply in my case, so the culprit has to be percy pancreas, maybe in collusion from larry liver - too much insulin, too little glucose 🙄

Glad you had a better night Northe. It was a good night for me as well, I was 7.8 before bed and 5.9 this morning.

Alison, I really think that had I been you, I would have said 'Och - Mc Sod it!' and gone for the legendary deep-fried Mars bar !
