Where is the best place to get a "pouch" to hold the pen / test meter etc etc.

Is it best to look on ebay or are there particular places you guys in the know would go?

Thanks

A lot of people use pencil cases or makeup bags Emma - cheaper and lots of variety! There is a company called Desang who make leather ones, but they are expensive.

Definitely try a pencil case - as Northerner says, cheap and lots of choice. If you need a waterproof case eg for canoeing, then there is a huge range of roll top packs marketed for mobile phones etc.

I brought my self a really cute make up bag for ?3.50 from boots and it fits in everything I need 🙂
Has anyone got one of them frio pouches that keeps your insulin cool.
As going away end of the year and think it would come in handy for car journeys eg, the one I want is ?14 plus vat. Do you reckon you could get the nhs to pay for it as I feel it is a must have, also I have no income coming in :( so would be good if I could get it for free.

No chance of NHS paying for Frio wallet, but it's easy to keep insulin cool on hot journeys - just keep out of direct sunlight, or use a vacuum flask with cool water. Don't leave in car, when not moving, though, as that's when temperatures rise. Insulin is surprisingly tough - most can be kept out of fridge at room temperature (usually defined as up to 30oC) for 28 days.

I've never used a Frio pouch, even when camping in UK for up to a week, hiking in Atlas Mountains or travelling round South America for 4 months on longest trip - I used a cheap stainless steel vacuum flask, which I already owned, but would only cost ?5 to buy new.

Pencil case!! Doh - why didnt I think of that.

Brilliant thanks guys!

I got a sparkly purple case for my pens on diagnosis - it's a pencil case but nice and slim for my handbag.:D

I hate the cases the pens are meant to go in - chunky and not enough room for enough needles.

Well the choice of pencil cases in the shops at present is lousy. I'll hang on another few weeks, once they all get their "back to school" stuff in, I bet there is a massive choice.

I guess digging out an old make up bag will do for now....

Ooooh, sparkly and pink - ideal. Thank you!!!

Tim's (shootuporputup) partner makes/sells snazzy little cases for such things I think. Website is stripykat or something similar.

Emma I have a Cath Kidson zip purse wallet, they're a great size and I fit glucose tabs, insulin pen, test strips, meter and clicker in it but they do bigger make up bags if you want something larger! 🙂

Next have a gorgeous silver sparkly make up bag with three 'Diamonds' bath type bits and perfume in it for about ?6, I've bough it and it's really sparkly!

I have a Frio pouch for when we go to Crete. They certainly arnt expensive and the pouch works a treat. I have owned it for five years now and it looks like it will last forever its well made.
