I have been given some Ampalaya Tea that a fellow diabetes sufferer brought back from the USA. He says that it helps to reduce his blood sugar levels but it is an acquired taste.
Can anyone confirm whether this works or not before I start taking it as although I have been diagnosed with Type 2 for over 2 years I only started taking Metformin 2 months ago and I am struggling with the side effects, even though I am now on the modified version, and I don't want to have to cope with any more side effects.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I've really no idea whether the claims made have any basis to be honest Maureen but this link makes lots of promising claims on the subject. Personally, the idea of bitter melon tea does nothing for me! 😱
Read the risks associated with its use too.

Not to be used by anyone pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding however according to bumf.

Welcome.
I had not heard of it is had to google it. It looks as though it is ingredients are supposed to bitter melon, which my understanding has had no proved scientific evidence it works, as is the case with lots of theses herbal remedies.
If you are struggling with the Metformin side effects, maybes you should go back to your Doctor and ask for something else.

Depends how many sugars you put in ? I like the new teas from Tetley. Help your Immune system etc. Welcome Maureen 🙂
